2022 TTA NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CAMP - NSW SUCCESSFUL
Published Tue 18 Jan 2022
TTA successfully ran the all new 2022 National Identification Program - NSW Camp from 10 Jan to 14 Jan 2022 at Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales.
The National Identification program is aimed at identifying athletes with potential to progress through the Table Tennis Australia Pathway from the identification period to National Squad or Podium Potential at the Highest Level.
It is managed by Simon Gerada - TTA National Performance Pathways Manager; led by John Murphy - TTA National Head Coach and coached by Hongbo Liang, TTA Performance Coach, and Paul Zhao, Coaching Director of TTNSW.
The National Identification program reviews every individual athlete’s progression against the TTA HP Podium Profile, creates individual athlete and S&T program plans, and provides opportunity for all athletes to become categorised in the Table Tennis Australia squad matrix.
Given the critical importance of the core skills required for performance, this program provided the required skills that are coached to athletes across the pathway with expert coaches. Skill acquisition specialist will provide an expert viewpoint about skill learning and teaching methods in group format to later provide individually along the pathway.
Ted David, Vice President of TTNSW welcomed all coaches, all players, all volunteers and all parents from ACT and NSW, and Ted wished all elite junior players to achieve their goals at both national level and international level.
Ted also expressed thanks to Tuanyuan Group & Rich N Delicious Group for providing kind sponsorships to this camp.
The five day camp was attended by more than 50 junior players including 10 National Junior Squad players and National HOPES Squad players, and it was a good display of the young talent currently developing in ACT and NSW.
5-day training camp included 10 training sessions: testing, planning and monitoring program.
During the camp, the junior players met two-time Commonwealth Games table tennis player Kane Townsend, who shared his experience as a National Squad Member with 9 Oceania Titles and 5 National Titles.
The State Hopes Camp - NSW will be in Sydney Olympic Park 17 - 21 January 2022.
David Lee and Michael Li wish to gratefully acknowledge Paul Zhao, TTNSW Board Member, Table Tennis New South Wales and Table Tennis Australia.
