50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Australia and China

Mr Paul Pinkewich, Mr Noel Shorter and Dr Michael Li of Table Tennis NSW were invited by H.E. Ambassador Xiao Qian of the Chinese Embassy 
in Australia to attend the reception to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Australia and China.
 
Mr Paul Pinkewich and Mr Noel Shorter, who visited China in April 1971 before the establishment of diplomatic relations between Australia and China 
in December 1972, delivered speeches on the spot to nearly 600 guests and recalled the enthusiasm and friendship of the Chinese people with personal
experience, and expressed their great honour to participate in the historical process of the development of Australia-China diplomatic relations. Australia-
China sports exchange is a vivid manifestation of the friendship between the two countries' peoples.
 
H.E. Ambassador Xiao Qian expressed his heartfelt thanks and high respect to all people from Australia who have contributed to the development of China-
Australia relations, and pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia 50 years ago, the two countries have 
respected each other, complemented each other in the field of practical cooperation, exchanged and learned from each other in the field of people-to-people 
and cultural exchanges, and communicated and coordinated in regional and international affairs to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. 
 
H.E. Ambassador Xiao Qian welcomed Mr Paul Pinkewich, Mr Noel Shorter and Dr Michael Li to visit China for the friendship and sports-cultural exchange 
between China and Australia.
