AUSTRALIAN TABLE TENNIS AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES (2002 - 2018)

Table Tennis first appeared at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 as a demonstration sport. Then twenty years later in 2002, Table Tennis became an official sport in the Commonwealth Games and Australia won 12 medals in five Commonwealth Games during 2002 - 2018.
The 1982 Commonwealth Games were held in Brisbane from 30 September to 9 October 1982. Table Tennis was included as a demonstration sport for this first time. Only two teams participated, Australia and Hong Kong. Australian team included Paul Pinkewich, Bob Tuckett, and Denise Millikan.

The 2002 Commonwealth Games took place in Manchester, England from 25 July to 4 August 2002. Australia was ranked the 5th of 7 nations with one Mixed Doubles Silver Medal (Brett Clarke & Jian Fang Lay), one Women’s Doubles Bronze Medal (Jian Fang Lay & Miao Miao), one Women’s Team Silver Medal and one Para Women’s Singles Bronze Medal (Joy Boyd).
The 2006 Commonwealth Games were held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Australia during 16 - 26 March 2006. Australia was ranked the 5th of 5 nations with one Men’s Singles Silver Medal (William Henzell), one Women’s Doubles Bronze Medal (Jian Fang Lay & Miao Miao) and one Women’s Team Silver Medal.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games were held at the Yamuna Sports Complex, India from 4 to 14 October 2010. Australia was ranked the 5th of 6 nations with one Para Women’s Singles Silver Medal (Catherine Morrow).
The 2014 Commonwealth Games were held at the Scotstoun Sports Campus in Glasgow, Scotland between 24 July and 2 August 2014. Australia was ranked the 3rd of 5 nations with one Women’s Doubles Silver Medal (Jian Fang Lay & Miao Miao) and one Women’s Team Bronze Medal.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games were held at the Gold Coast Oxenford Studios, Australia from 5 to 15 April 2018. Australia was ranked the 4th of 7 nations with one Para Women’s Singles Gold Medal (Melissa Tapper) and one Para Women’s Singles Bronze Medal (Andrea McDonnell).
The Australian Table Tennis Qualification Tournament for the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held in Adelaide on 14-15 May 2022 to determine the final team positions.
Tracy Feng and Chris Yan earned the right to be nominated into the 2022 Commonwealth Games team remaining undefeated in Men’s Single’s Event and the Women's Singles event separately to book their places in Birmingham.
Tracy Feng and Chris Yan will represent Australia (able-bodied) at the 2022 Commonwealth Games with Nicholas Lum, Finn Luu, Dillon Chambers, Min Hyung Jee, Yangzi Liu and Jian Fang Lay.
