NATIONAL HEAD COACH JOHN MURPHY ATTENDED SIX MAJOR EVENTS IN SYDNEY

National Head Coach, John Murphy visited Table Tennis New South Wales (TTNSW) during late April and early May 2021.

On 30 April 2021, John attended the 2021 Table Tennis Corporate Cup (TTCC) - Sydney Finals  at Hornsby PCYC Table Tennis Centre with TTA Directors, Marie Pinkewich and Karen Zhang; TTA National Pathway Development Office, Kara Retford; and TTNSW Directors, Stephen Gillespie, Paul Zhao, Michael Li and Anthony Zhao.

The Table Tennis Corporate Cup was developed for businesses and organisations across Australia to engage employees, build employee communication while also providing strong corporate health and wellbeing benefits.

60 players from Google Australia, Nuix, Genisys, Gigahire and Canva attended this event. Canva Team 1 won Gold Medal, Google Team 2 won Silver Medal, and Google Team 1 won Bronze Medal.

On 25 April 2021 and 1 May 2021, John led TTA National Squad Training and guided TTNSW Sate Junior Team Training with TTA Performance Coach, Hongbo Liang, and TTNSW Directors, Ian Finlay, Leonie Whiteford, Paul Zhao, Simon Leung, Michael Li, Slawek Dederko, Vivian Dederko Tan and Anthony Zhao. They coached and encouraged the junior players to achieve their goals at the coming national junior championships in July 2021.

TTNSW successfully ran a TTA Level 2 Coaching Course from 23-26 April 2021 and a TTA Level 1 Coaching Course from 1-2 May 2021 at TTNSW Head Office in Sydney Olympic Park.

TTA National Pathway Coach, Eva Jeler lectured at TTA Level 2 Coaching Course. Jon attended both Level 2 and Level 1 courses, and lectured at TTA Level 1 Coaching Course on National Squad Training site and NSW Junior Training site.

Both courses were presented by Cathy Collins who is a TTA Level 3 Accredited Coach & TTA Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching Course Presenter. TTNSW Directors, Ted Devis, Leonie Whiteford, Paul Zhao and Michael Li assisted and supported both courses.

On 1 May 2021, John was pleased to have the opportunity to lecture the new coaches at Sydney Olympic Park, especially to provide training to several NSW junior players, who are joining in the TTA accredited coaching team: Alice Lee, Alex Yeung and Jules Vahl.

On 2 May 2021, John attended 2021 NSW Open Championships at Hurstville Aquarium Centre, and witnessed the achievements of players from NSW & ACT at all ages and at all levels. Results are available at: http://www.tabletennisnsw.org/mturner/2021/NSWOpen/home.html.

During his visit, John visited several local clubs and will also have a chance to attend the 2021 NSW Veterans Closed Championships at Sydney Olympic Park during 15 - 16 May 2021.
