NSW JUNIOR PLAYERS IN ACTION AT WTT YOUTH EVENT IN EUROPE

The ninth event on the 2022 Youth Series took WTT to Austria for the first time at Linz. Players from U11 right through to U19 competed for seven days from 27 April to 3 May 2022.
8 NSW junior players were amongst the 14 Aussie bright young stars in Europe for a training and competition tour. All 8 NSW junior players are on their international debut and acquitted themselves well throughout.
10 wins were recorded overall with standout performances coming from 5 NSW junior boy players in their respective events: Hwan Bae (3 victories), Won Bae (2 victories), Clarence Cheng (2 victories), Leonard Piyachai (2 victories) and Jeffrey Guo (1 victory).
Sanaya Buddhadasa recorded 1 win with her standout performance in her U17 Girls Single Event.
VIC junior player, Nicholas Lum, who lifted two U17 trophies last year on the Youth Series at European events, won silver medal in U17 Boys' Singles event with 8 consecutive victories against quality opponents.
TTNSW Director and Junior Team Manager, Leonie Whiteford, congratulated all 14 Aussie talented junior players on their fantastic results and excellent performances at the 2022 WTT Youth Contender Linz Austria, being great culture and sports ambassadors for Australia and for demonstrating their outstanding sportsmanship and fighting spirit throughout at the international stage.
Leonie said: “TTNSW is looking forward to strengthening NSW junior players’ performance further at the 2022 National Table Tennis Championships in July 2022 and beyond. TTNSW is pleased to continue supporting TTA in its endeavours to assist NSW elite junior players to achieve their goals at both national level and international level.”
