NSW PLAYERS IN ACTION AT AUSTRALIAN QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT FOR THE 2022 COMMONWEALTH GAMES

The Australian Qualification Tournament for the 2022 Commonwealth Games was held in Adelaide on 14-15 May 2022 to determine the final team positions. 12 men and 5 women from NSW, QLD, SA and VIC battled it out for a place on the 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games team.
11 NSW players including 6 under 17 years old juniors were eligible to compete at the event as per the Nomination Criteria: Alex Lee, Bob Liang, Chris Yan, Clarence Cheng, Chulong Nie, Chunyi Feng, Hwan Bae, Jeffrey Guo, Michelle Bromley, Stephen Liu and Won Bae.
Tracy Feng earned the right to be nominated into the 2022 Commonwealth Games team remaining undefeated in the Women's Singles event to book her place in Birmingham.
Chris Yan made it 8 wins from 8 matches to earn the right to be nominated into the 2022 Commonwealth Games team as his third consecutive Commonwealth Games appearance.
All 6 NSW junior players are on their national debut and acquitted themselves well throughout. 14-years-old Chulong Nie had an outstanding performance
and ranked NO 2. 17-years-old Hawn Bae ranked NO 4 and 17-years-old Clarence Cheng ranked NO 5.
19 wins were recorded overall with standout performances coming from 6 NSW junior boy players: Chulong Nie (5 victories), Hwan Bae (5 victories), Clarence Cheng (5 victories), Won Bae (2 victories), Jeffrey Guo (1 victory) and Stephen Li (1 victory).
TTNSW Director and Junior Team Manager, Leonie Whiteford, congratulated all 11 NSW players on their fantastic results and excellent performances at the Australian Qualification Tournament for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Leonie said: “TTNSW really enjoyed the insights and recognition of the next generation coming through, and we are looking forward to strengthening NSW
junior players performance further at the 2022 National Championships in July
2022 and beyond. TTNSW is pleased to continue supporting TTA in its endeavours to assist NSW elite junior players to achieve their goals at both national level and international level.”
Vice President of TTNSW, Ted Davis congratulated Tracy Feng and Chris Yan’s success to being great culture and sports ambassadors for Australia and for demonstrating their outstanding sportsmanship and fighting spirit throughout at the international stage.
