Outstanding achievement award – U17 Girls B team

Due to the high standard of the NSW’s U13 girls, this resulted in 3 of the girls not selected in the U13 A or B team being selected for under 17 Girls B team – 2 x girls played U11’s at last years championships and have just progressed to the next age group – both 11 years old a third player 12 years old representing NSW for the first time was also selected in the U17 girls B team(a four player team).

The teams outstanding results are as follows:

Round one – the girls played VIC A team (eventual GOLD medallists). They displayed extreme determination in playing outstandingly, matching it with the much bigger and more experienced girls – many sets going to Deuce. On the next table, the NSW Girls A team were closely monitoring the girls efforts. Round 2 saw the girls play the NSW A team. The A team gave no latitude and did not take the girls lightly.

Round 3 played South Australia the results were locked at 3 – matches all. The girls were unlucky to lose 4 – 3.

Round 4 – saw the girls play with GUSTO against VIC B on Table 1 – the live streaming table – the games were again locked at 3- all and the girls were able to win 4-3 (this match can be viewed on the live streaming replays)

Round 5 – the girls played Queensland – the girls again won this match 4-3.  

Round 6 – the girls had their bye this round.

Going into the final round the match points were – NSW A & VIC A both on 10 points – the next four teams – were all on 7 match points & VIC B on 6 points. Queensland had the bye & NSW played Presidents & South Australia played VIC B.

Round 7 - the girls played President’s – at 3 pm. The President’s team had 2 x NSW players & a very good ACT player – the girls again won, with an upset win against the ACT player.  Result - won this match – 5-2.

The matches at 6 pm – NSW A Vs VIC A – Gold medal match & SA Vs VIC B

Queensland had the bye &  remained on 7 match points, NSW B defeated President’s – Presidents 8 match points & NSW B finished on 9 match points  – SA Vs VIC B – this was a very close match locked at 3 – all – the final match 2 – games all & 9 points all – SA won the match 4- 3 – this placed them on 9 match points equal with NSW B team in 3rd place – on a countback SA received the bronze and the girls finished a very credible 4th place. Well done girls.
