SIX NSW PLAYERS - 2021 NATIONAL YOUTH SENIOR VETERANS RANKINGS - NO 1

On 17 December 2021, Table Tennis Australia (TTA) and the National Selection Panel released the 2021 National Rankings for Senior, Youth and Veterans.
Six NSW players, Inh Van Le Inh Van Le, James Wong, Wayne Heginbotham, Xuyen Tran, Chris Yan and Yangzi Liu finished 2021 ranked number 1 in their age groups:
Over 75 Men's: Inh Van Le, Over 70 Men's: Inh Van Le, Over 65 Men's: James Wong, Over 60 Men's: Wayne Heginbotham, Over 40 Men's: Xuyen Tran, Senior Men's: Chris Yan, and Under 21 Women's: Yangzi Liu.
Inh Van Le achieved 2021 ranked number 1 in two age groups: Over 75 Men's and Over 75 Men's No 1. It is an amazing achievement!
Without doubt, the star performer of the last 2019 National Veterans Championships was the evergreen Inh Van Le with incredible achievements:
- Winning the Over 70 and Over 75 Men's Singles.
- Winning the Over 70 and Over 75 Men's Doubles.
- Winning the Over 70 and Over 75 Mixed Doubles.
- Winning the Over 75 Men's Teams and finishing with a 12-0 win-loss ratio.
- Winning 7 gold medals in 7 events and remaining undefeated in the entire championships.
- Winning the Table Tennis World Best Performance Award for both Over 70 & Over 75 Men.
- Being awarded the Ken Cole Trophy as the Australian Veterans Player of the Year.
- Being one of the inaugural inductees into the TTA Hall of Fame (Veterans).
This is arguably the most dominant display ever at a National Veterans Championships. A two-time World Veterans Champion, he has won 4 medals in total at the World Veterans Championships, and at the National Veterans Championships, won a staggering 55 titles.
James Wong is a professional table tennis coach currently in Sydney. He had years of competition experience and has taught many excellent students who became state champions.
James is an accredited level 2 TTA coach in National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.
James won:
2012 Darwin National table tennis Veteran championship over 60s Brown medal
2013 Canberra National Veteran Championship over 60s single Brown medal
2013 Canberra National Veteran Championship over 60s Double Silver medal
2013 Canberra National Veteran Championship over 60s NSW team Gold medal
2014 Hobart National Veteran Championship over 60s single Gold medal
2014 Hobart National Veteran Championship over 60s NSW Team Gold medal
2015 Sunshine Coast National Veteran Championship NSW Team Gold medal
2015 Sunshine Coast National Veteran Championship Mix Double Brown medal
2019 National Championship over 50s Doubles Gold medal
2019 National Championship over 60s NSW Team Bronze medal
Vice President of TTNSW, Ted Davis said “Congratulations on behalf of TTNSW on their achievements. TTNSW is proud of NSW youth, senior and veteran players’ achievements in 2021, in particular those athletes who finished 2021 ranked number 1 in each age group.”
