WE GO TOGETHER WE GO STRONGER – 2022 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Published Mon 27 Jun 2022
TTNSW State Teams finalized its preparations for the 2022 Australian National Table Tennis Championships at the Sports Hall, Sydney Olympic Park on 25 and 26 June 2022.
TTNSW is sending a large delegation with 300 members, which include 150 officials and players plus 150 supporters to the 2022 National Championships,
which will be held at Caloundra Indoor Stadium, Sunshine Coast, Queensland during 3 - 10 July 2022.
It is set to be a fantastic event, with nearly 450 competitors taking part and all 8 States/Territories being represented. This is the first time all senior, youth, junior and para events are combined into one National Championships and the event marks the return of the National Championships for the first time since 2019.
Travelling to Sunshine Coast, Queensland to conduct the nationals will be a fantastic experience in how all 8States/Territories with different cultures, but all share the same enthusiasm for seeing players thrive.
Due to Covid-19 derailing the last two Australian National Table Tennis Championships in 2021 and 2022 in a row, a large portion of this year’s NSW junior team is unfamiliar with what to expect at the Nationals. The concept of Nationals Preparation and National Competition were the key theme in 9 days state training camps in Sydney during the past two months, which attracted the junior players from ACT, QLD, SA and VIC to join.
All junior players learned the necessity of teamwork when it comes to finding a table and securing a decent warm up at the Nationals. All junior players not only improved their skills during the state camps, but they also learned the importance of teamwork and everyone’s responsibility to ensure that all teammates look after each other and compete as a whole team.
Australia Table Tennis Promotion Association (ATTPA) offered sponsorships to support 20 junior players to be coached by dual Olympian representative and triple Commonwealth Games representative Chris Yan, who is ranked No 1 in NSW and No 2 in Australia in the latest TTA National Rankings for Senior Men on 7 June 2022.
One of Australia's fastest growing multi-asset online trading providers, ACY Securities, signed a 2-year sponsorship contract with TTNSW just before the nationals. The sponsorship includes the placement of the ACY Securities’ logo on the front and back of TTNSW State Junior Team competition shirts.
ACY Securities has been a tremendous supporter of sports and culture events since its foundation, and TTNSW appreciates that ACY sees fit to invest in TTNSW for 2 years. TTNSW thanks ACY for its generosity and looks forward to working with ACY throughout this sponsorship agreement and beyond.
TTNSW Team Manager, Leonie Whiteford said: “TTNSW is proud of our junior players’ great achievements in the first half of 2022: 21 players achieved 48 medals at 2022 TTA Tours. TTNSW is also proud of Jessy Chen, Tracy Feng, Yagzi Liu and Chris Yan who were officially selected to represent Australia for the 2022 Commonwealth Games 28 July - 8 August 2022 in Birmingham, England.
TTNSW thanks all the players, coaches, parents and officials for their endless efforts and wishes TTNSW junior players, senior players and para players good luck in the 2022 National Championships in July 2022. “
David Lee and Michael Li wish to gratefully acknowledge Table Tennis Australia (TTA) Table Tennis New South Wales (TTNSW), Australia Table Tennis Promotion Association (ATTPA) and ACY Securities.
