WENTY LEAGUES TABLE TENNIS CLUB Spin for a Cause: The Frank Borbely Cup

Wenty Leagues Table Tennis Club presents, Spin for a Cause: The Frank Borbely Cup - a fundraising event dedicated to supporting cancer research.
The goal is to raise essential funds for innovative treatments and research initiatives aimed at finding a cure. By attending or sponsoring, you contribute directly to advancing cancer research and supporting those affected by the disease.
Dates and Venue
a. The tournament will be held on 5th and 6th October 2024 (Saturday & Sunday), at 9:00 am - 6:30 pm at Wenty Table Tennis Club, 50 Smith St. Wentworthville, NSW 2145
III. Divisions and Eligibility
a. Spin for a Cause: The Frank Borberly Cup is a singles competition open to all players who are rated in Table Tennis Western Sydney.
b. Divisions will be based on Table Tennis Western Sydney Grading System.
i. A Grade - Limited slot only - 16)
ii. A2 Grade (Limited slot only - 16)
iii. B Grade - Limited slot only - 16)
iv. C Grade - Limited slot only - 16)
v. D Grade - Limited slot only - 16)
vi. E Grade* - (Limited slot only - 12)
* RC < 800 Beginners
c. Players can enter in the grade they are rated and are also permitted to play in the next highest grade.
d. Unrated / Ungraded players to contact the Tournament Director before entering to competition (Dr Mithilesh Dronavalli: 0422895837)
Format
a. A round robin (group stage) and knockout system will be played for every division.
i. Group Stage (top 2 per group advances)
ii. Knockouts / Finals
b. Game Scoring
i. Best of 5 sets (except E Grade - Best of 3 sets)
ii. Points will be awarded for each match, with 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.
iii. The player with the most points in each group will advance to the knockout stage.
iv. The knockout stage is a single-elimination format, where players compete in a series of matches with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser being eliminated from the tournament.
v. The final match of the tier will determine the division champion.
vi. All Singles games will be submitted to Rating Central.
